Fort Necessity
Fort Necessity

The proposed project would initially include the development of three 5 billion cubic feet (Bcf) caverns for a total of 15 Bcf, with six-turn injection and withdrawal capabilities. Depending on market demand, four or more additional caverns could be developed.

The site is strategically located within one mile of Tennessee Gas Pipeline's 30" 800 leg and Columbia Gulf's two 30" and 36" mainlines as well as six miles from Regency Energy Partner's 30" Winnsboro Extension and eight miles from ANR Pipeline's two 30" and 36" mainlines.

The first cavern is projected to be operational by early 2011 and the other two caverns by 2012 and 2014 respectively.

On, January 30, 2008, Atmos Pipeline and Storage submitted a pre-filling request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to operate and construct the facility.
