Our Footprint
Atmos Energy has grown from 279,000 customers in 1983 to more than 3 million customers today - mainly by acquiring utility assets. The company has regulated utility operations in Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. We are the largest natural gas distributor in the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
The Colorado-Kansas Division of Atmos Energy Corporation serves a diverse geographic region from the Western Slope of Colorado, across the Front Range, over the plains of western and central Kansas to the rolling hills on the state’s eastern edge.
The division, which includes Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia, represents a combination of utilities that were venerable pioneers of the natural gas industry.
Atmos Energy acquired the highly respected Mississippi Valley Gas Company in 2002. MVG had a long history of service to communities throughout Mississippi, starting with its formation as an independent natural gas utility in 1951.
The company’s original distribution area is served today by the West Texas Division. The West Texas Division now serves 80 communities, the largest being Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa.
