The cost of natural gas is a tradeable commodity that is driven by global supply and demand and can fluctuate monthly based on market conditions. Atmos Energy is a regulated utility and natural gas is a “pass through cost” to our customers, which means no profit is added to the commodity and transportation costs charged by suppliers.
To manage the volatility of gas costs, we closely monitor all factors that affect natural gas prices and utilize underground storage fields to provide customers with reliable natural gas during periods of peak demand.
These factors determine the amount of your Atmos Energy bill:
Your bill will include how much natural gas you used for that billing period, your current meter reading, a breakdown of charges and credits, the total amount due, and important messages from Atmos Energy. Click here to learn more about your bill, including the terms and definitions that appear on your bill.
You can use the Bill Comparison Tool to compare your current bill with a previous bill so you can better understand how the weather, billing days, and charges impact your bill. Log in to the Account Center and select “Billing and Usage” to get started.
