Atmos Energy Donates to Veteran Service Dog Organization

Many have heard the saying, “dogs are a man’s best friend.” To wounded or disabled veterans, dogs are more than companions. They represent an avenue to assimilate back into society after returning home. To support the cause of providing veterans with service dogs, Atmos Energy’s Mid-Tex Sales and Public Affairs team donated more than $1,000 to Patriot PAWS.

Operations Supervisor Brad Evans has run a half marathon (13.1) miles in 40 states and plans on doing one in all 50 states. His first race was in Nashville in 2008. The 40th was five months ago in Utah. The toughest was New Year’s Day 2013 in Minneapolis. 

“It was -4 and you couldn’t keep your water bottle from freezing. My eyelids would try to freeze shut,” says Evans, who lives in Southaven, Miss. 

Mesquite Announces Atmos Energy as Title Sponsor of Veterans Memorial

Atmos Energy stepped forward to pledge $100,000 towards the Mesquite Veterans Memorial project. The community launched a campaign last year to build a new veterans memorial in Mesquite.

Atmos Energy sponsored Marketing Development Specialist Nathan Morrow with a $1,000 donation to Family Support Services (FSS) of Amarillo. The contribution allowed him to rappel down the 12-story Santa Fe Building in downtown Amarillo on Aug. 11.

Throughout the day, 40 others descended the building, earning FSS more than $60,000 in total donations.
