Employees throughout our six divisions pour their efforts and time not only into their jobs, but also into the community. Our Mississippi Division illustrated what it is like to have “heart” for the community at the American Heart Association’s Metro Jackson Heart Walk in Jackson, Mississippi.

Over the last six years of involvement, employees have raised over $35,000 towards the mission of the AHA through the Metro Jackson Heart Walk. Employees also literally “walk the walk” with hundreds [WBK2] of participants representing Atmos Energy at the event. In 2017, David Gates, President of Atmos Energy’s Mississippi Division, stepped up in a leadership role and served as the chair of the event.

“Throughout the time we have worked together, Atmos Energy has set an example for other employers as a leader in workplace health and has been awarded the Fit Friendly Workplace recognition for their focus on employee wellness,” said Jennifer Hopping, Vice President of American Heart Association – Central Mississippi.

During the Mississippi division’s involvement, it has also sponsored the Lifestyle Change Award, which recognizes individuals around the community for their efforts in making lifestyle changes.  Some Atmos Energy employees that have been recognized with this award as well. Charles Jenkins, Crew Leader and Bob Kerley, Vice President of Marketing both were recipients of the award in recent years.
