Construction personnel have begun using LocusMap, a software program that allows installation crews to electronically capture construction data in the field while work is being performed, that is reviewed and approved by a work reviewer using a tool on the internet.

In the past, this information was collected by the installation crew or a third party and handwritten on paper documents that were submitted to Atmos Energy for review and approval.

LocusMap validates required construction and asset data using bar-code scanning, high-accuracy GPS technology and electronic forms.

“We are using LocusMap with all installation and replacement crews to ensure that the construction information is complete and accurate,” says Construction Manager Monty McCaleb.

“LocusMap collects material information and creates an as-built drawing during construction to expedite the closing/review process,” added Director of Operations Support Buddy Powell.

“It allows the user to scan barcodes to collect material information which reduces the amount of handwritten errors we receive on printed data.”

LocusMap training began last fall in the Mid-Tex and Mississippi Divisions and is continuing in other areas in 2019. Deployment in all divisions should be completed by mid-fiscal year 2020.
