Atmos Energy Employees Build Bikes for Girls Inc.

October 24, 2016

DENVER – Atmos Energy employees from the Colorado/Kansas division kicked off their United Way campaign in October with a friendly bike-building competition to benefit underprivileged girls living in Denver.

The finished products will be delivered to young girls in the after-school program of Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, Atmos Energy Financial Analyst Aaron Bishop said.

Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, a nonprofit organization, is also a partner of United Way.

“The girls will be delighted to receive these incredible bikes and helmets,” said Sophie Bieluczyk, Manager of Development for Girls Inc. of Metro Denver. “It’s so wonderful to have a company like Atmos Energy who supports our mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold!”

The United Way campaign continues throughout the month of October with several events including a Duck Derby and the Great Connect Collect where teams of Atmos Energy employees compete to collect toothpaste, combs, brushes, and flip flops as part of Project Homeless Connect in early November.

Mile High United Way partners with Project Homeless Connect each year.  This is an event offered in cities nationwide that provides a full array of services for individuals looking for assistance as they face homelessness.  Volunteers walk participants through a number of stations providing basic needs like haircuts and more complex services such as navigating through paperwork and legal assistance.
