DALLAS – Dec. 12, 2024 – Atmos Energy is partnering with Wreaths Across America Saturday, Dec. 14, to honor fallen veterans and their families on National Wreaths Across America Day. Joining millions of volunteers nationwide, hundreds of Atmos Energy employees and our friends and families across the eight states we serve will honor America’s heroes with a living memorial by placing veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of our nation’s fallen service members. When each wreath is placed on a headstone, the service member’s name is said out loud, further continuing their memory lives on.

Here in the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex, Atmos Energy employees will participate in the following National Wreaths Across America Day events:

• 11 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas)
• 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery (1501 N. State Highway 91, Denison)
• 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens (1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving)
• 11 a.m. at Italy Cemetery (210 N. Couch St., Italy)
• 11 a.m. at Old Hall Cemetery (1200 McGee Lane, Lewisville)
• 11 a.m. at Rowlett Creek Cemetery (10228 Rowlett Cemetery Road, Plano)
• 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park (2500 State Highway 66 E., Rockwall)

As one of its core pillars, Atmos Energy is committed to fueling honor and thanks for our community heroes as part of our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative. This is yet another opportunity for the company to show respect and gratitude for hometown heroes across the eight states and more than 1,400 communities we serve. This year’s theme is “Live with Purpose,” and Atmos Energy wants to help Wreaths Across America focus on heroic success stories that will help change discussions around what it means to serve your country. 

“For all of our veteran and military families, we want them to know that we are grateful for their service and sacrifice, and Wreaths Across America Day is a powerful reminder of how our actions can have a lasting impact,” said Kelly Biegler, Atmos Energy vice president of public affairs. “This is one event where we can make a difference by honoring veterans and their families, and we hope everyone will join us tomorrow.”

The annual tribute that started more than 30 years ago by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester now takes place in local, state, and national cemeteries in all 50 states. Wreaths Across America is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2007 to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Since 2008, Congress proclaims a Saturday in December as National Wreaths Across America Day. The nonprofit’s yearlong mission is to remember the fallen, honor those that serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.
