At Atmos Energy, Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities means we support the cities and towns that we serve, and this holiday season we are proud of a new partnership that offers the City of Owensboro (Ky.) an outdoor skating experience for the whole family.  

Energy on Ice is a 4,800 square-foot synthetic ice rink that includes festive holiday lighting, music, food and drink concessions, skate rentals, and outdoor seating for spectators. Located on the Kentucky Legend Pier, it is made possible through a partnership with the Owensboro Convention Center, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, the Staton Family Foundation, and Atmos Energy.  

Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson said, “When the public and private sectors collaborate, great things happen. As a community, we value this generous financial support and each partner’s determination to make this winter attraction a reality.”

Owensboro opened its first Winter Wonderland in 2008, and it quickly became a beloved community activity. Now more than a decade later, the first annual 12 Days of Christmas is here with ice skating for all generations as well as movie nights, musical performances, sweet treats, and breakfasts with Santa. In conjunction with the OBKY Project led by Mayor Watson, Atmos Energy’s support will help maintain Energy on Ice as a cherished event for the next seven holiday seasons.  

 Our team members live in the 1,400 communities we serve, and each year we expand our outreach to bring holiday cheer in our hometowns. By donating winter coats and toys to our vulnerable neighbors, volunteering as bell ringers for The Salvation Army, sponsoring the local winter parade, and providing holiday feasts for families in need, we embrace the holiday spirit in every city, town, and parish we serve.
