Thanks in part to our unique culture and the AtmoSpirit principles that exemplify the values we celebrate and embrace, two national publications recently recognized Atmos Energy for distinction among our corporate peers. For the third consecutive year, Atmos Energy is named on the Forbes list of America’s Best Midsize Employers which was compiled based on a survey of 170,000 U.S.-based workers at American companies. Atmos Energy also appears in the very first Newsweek Excellence 1000 Index, which identifies models of corporate success and responsibility across more than 25 industries.

Forbes again partnered with market research company Statista to compile its annual list, surveying current employees and employees who had worked for the company within the past two years, as well as individuals familiar with the company through friends, family, or industry peers (feedback from current and former employees was given greater weight). From a total of 600 organizations appearing on the list, Atmos Energy ranks 70th overall and first among all companies in the utility industry. We are also the fifth highest ranked company headquartered in the state of Texas.

Meanwhile, to create the inaugural Excellence 1000 Index, Newsweek partnered with Best Practice Institute (BPI) to evaluate financial health, customer and employee sentiment, and the companies’ dedication to social responsibility, among many other factors. Atmos Energy ranks 10th among all utilities appearing in the index and is the highest ranked natural gas-only utility. To be included in this grouping means that Atmos Energy “shares a spotlight with companies that stand at the forefront of corporate social responsibility, uphold rigorous ethical standards, and exemplify fairness and the best business practices,” according to BPI.
