From Abigail Adams to Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth to Rosa Parks, the timeline of women’s history milestones stretches back to the founding of the United States. Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, Calif., in 1978 by the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission. Designed to correspond with International Women’s Day on March 8, the movement spread across the country and Congress passed Public Law 100-9 in 1987, designating March as Women’s History Month.
This year’s theme for Women's History Month, as designated by The National Women’s History Alliance, is "Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” Atmos Energy celebrates this theme year-round and through Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities focuses on paying tribute to the ceaseless work of our frontline workers, first responders, healthcare workers, and teachers, who provide healing and hope to our communities.
In recognition of the myriad of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history, particularly emphasizing their impact in the energy industry, Atmos Energy presents some of its most respected leaders.
